Getting Floored

The floors are going down. They are basic, hardwood floors that won't need much maintenance, and will hopefully last for many years to come. Some already existing floors were salvaged and matched with this floor.

Water Main Pain

There was a suspicious puddle a few feet away from the house, and the puddle did not go away, despite a spate of dry weather. The result of a call to DEP was a three day notice posted on my door, saying that I am responsible for calling a water main specialist within in three days, OR ELSE. There was a large leak, and we are still trying to determine whether the leak is the City's responsibility or mine. The way things have been going, I'm not feeling to optimistic about this one.

New Hallway Getting an Italian Feel

I think our Italian is showing a bit in the hallway, but in a good way, of course! Italians love tile. There was absolutely no way to salvage the floors in the hallway. The previous owners had sawed off the bullnoses on each step in the stairs to have a right angle to put down carpet. And there were already older tiles in the hallway. Underneath the old tile, the floor was badly damaged. So, we decided to start fresh. The new tiles are extremely durable, and will surely last many years. I won't be doing this again in my lifetime, that's for sure!

Loan for Tillary Street Canyon Now Up For Sale

http://therealdeal.com/blog/2012/01/03/17m-loans-for-sale-at-site-where-ismael-leyva-tower-was-planned/

As an (above linked) article in The Real Deal indicates, the loan for the development of the lot next door to the house has been put on sale, finally. The price will surely be too rich for my blood, but I'm sure someone will bite! Hopefully, the new neighbor won't take away all my light.

Next Stop, Duffield Street

We opted for simple white subway tile for the bathrooms. On the lower two floors, we added a line of greenish mosaic tile for contrast. My father was not too pleased with the choice of subway tile, and I'm sure he's going to remind me of this often when he visits. Every time after he comes out of the bathroom, he'll say, "Sorry...what stop is this?"

Santa Brought Me Drywall.

Santa brought me some drywall for Christmas, and I'm still waiting for Baby New Year to bring me some taping and sanding. Hopefully, this will happen tomorrow.
