Thanks to a program from ConEd, the old fridge that was in the garden floor aspartment was hauled away, and I'll be getting a $50 rebate on my next electric bill. If you have an old fridge in your basement sitting around, check out the following link:
I will have a free Bartlett pear tree to plant in the backyard, thanks to a MillionTressNYC, a wonderful program meant to make New York City greener by a million trees (see above link). This will be the first bit of landscaping I do at the house. All I need is a partridge, and I'll be set for the next holiday season!
There has been a little movement happening at the large lot next to the house. Rumors were circulating on the block, but there hasn't been any official word about who is developing the lot and what will be there. I went online to check, and the listing for the lot says that it is "IN CONTRACT." I'll keep you posted if I found out anything for certain.
A very brave grey and white tabby has decided to supervise the renovation and patrol the backyard for rodents. She/He ran into the kitchen for a second and then went outside again. I had some dog treats handy, and the cat seemed to enjoy them. In this picture, the cat is eating the treats.
The cat seems healthy enough, but I might talk to the neighbors to see if she/he is neutered, and whether anyone is looking after him/her.
Sorry for the lapse between posts! I was in California, visiting relatives and attending a conference.
Not much has happened since my last post, except for the new outside railing and floor tile being laid in one of the kitchens. A little disagreement about who is responsible for the sanding/taping/primer has caused more delays, but this issue has hopefully been resolved. Hopefully, I'll some images of finished walls to post soon.
